Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) today are celebrating the third annual National SBDC Day.
The nationwide proclamation honors the success and impact of SBDCs in the economic development and small business communities.
Here in Delaware, the University of Delaware’s Small Business Development Center has been helping businesses start, grow and succeed for over 35 years. Funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the State of Delaware, the SBDC’s work has resulted in more than 1,400 new business starts (since inception), more than 4,000 jobs (since 2000), and over $100 million in capital over the last 4 fiscal years.
The DSBDC is accredited as a “technology” designated program to support entrepreneurs building tech-based companies. The Delaware SBDC has received national recognition for its groundbreaking work in cybersecurity.
The Department of Homeland Security named the Delaware SBDC’s Small Business Cybersecurity program as a national best practice. The program has been adopted by over a dozen other SBDC’s across the country.
