The Weinstein comeback

While Jodi Kantor, Megan Twohey and Ronan Farrow are making the book tour rounds with their accounts of how they exposed Harvey Weinstein’s decades of sexual misconduct, the disgraced mogul’s brother and former partner is staging his comeback.

Bob Weinstein has launched a new development and production company called Watch This Entertainment.

Deadline first reported the news.

Weinstein, who previously co-chaired Miramax Films and The Weinstein Co. with his brother, aims to produce two to three movies annually. Whereas Harvey shepherded the companies’ prestige pictures, Bob handled genre fare, and that looks to be true this time around as well, as Watch This will specialize in family films, comedies and thrillers.

The first project will be “Endangered” based on the book by animal photographer Tim Flach. Illogic, the French collective behind the Oscar-nominated short “Garden Party,” will write and direct. Tea Leoni is on board to produce and voice one of the characters.

Pantea Ghaderi, who previously worked for Weinstein as executive vice president of publicity for his genre division Dimension Films, will lead Watch This as president of creative development.

The company will focus on development and production and not be distributing films as Miramax and The Weinstein Co. did.

Weinstein left his eponymous company as it wound its way through bankruptcy in the wake of his brother’s downfall.
